About

ArchiMedia Lab began in 2014, when the principal investigators, Suzanne Lane and Andreas Karatsolis, received a d'Arbeloff grant to develop online communication instruction for communication-intensive engineering project laboratory subjects. From that initial project, two more research projects emerged: the development and assessment of Disciplinary Reasoning Diagrams, and a study of the emerging genre of graphical abstracts. The reasoning diagram project received a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation. Over the years, a number of graduate research assistants, undergraduate researchers, and lecturers in Writing, Rhetoric, and Professional Communication (WRAP) have joined the ArchiMedia research team on various projects.
